On a single twist strander, each flyer’s turn creates one twist on the cable. The lay length is done from the lay plate to the spool.

Double Twist challenges ...
On a double twist strander, each flyer’s turn creates two twists on the cable. The stress from twist is twisted back very little due to two blocking points.

The Rollertwist solution
Inclined rollers: the cable is given a rotating motion when passing on the rollers: If the inclination angle is same as the stranding angle, the stress of one twist is fully reversed back to the stranding point. By adjusting roller angle, roller twist can achieve all the twist range between single and double twist.
